The J.H.S. 104 equity team recognizes the wealth of knowledge of our diverse school community and seeks to dismantle structures and interrogate mindsets that center traditionally privileged identities (that include, but are not limited to: race, ethnicity, culture, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, spirituality, ability/disability, age, body habitus, national origin, citizenship/immigration status, and language) by educating about and enacting change to ensure educational justice. We commit to consistently redesigning our practices in order to create an environment in which all community members are valued, respected, and affirmed. This will lead to identification of disproportionality, accountability for our own role in inequitable systems, and implementation of culturally responsive-sustaining practices and content.
