I teach 9th and 12th grade English. My students are amazing - resilient through the toughest of times, and responsible even when life takes it's difficult tolls. Our school is 100% free lunch - meaning that our students come from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds and their families often face much more than just financial stress, which of course impacts how students manage at school. My classroom itself just got the leaky roof fixed (yay to no more leaks!) and we were able to replace the old desks with some comfy tables and chairs thanks to some wonderful donors early in the school year! I still have a chalkboard and no fancy projector or TV graces the wall, but it's a great space because of the teenage humans who enter it! We will be adding to our classroom as funds come in. Exciting times for my students!
