I am in-between classrooms at the moment (summer break), but I can tell you that our students in rural America are in need of lessons and activities that teach diversity and acceptance. 2017/18 was my first actual teaching experience, as I graduated in December of 2017. I was surprised by the eagerness at which third grade students soaked up any information given them regarding historical facts & stories pertaining to heroes of different color. The backgrounds, and cultures within this great nation are something I feel is important for students to recognize and appreciate. My students will be welcomed, and their differences will be advertised, discussed, and celebrated through critical literacy, hands-on activities, and art appreciation - thanks in part by the awesome help of Donorschoose.org and friends!
