Currently, my school has lots of percussion instruments and marimbas. These are great for my K-2 students. My 3rd graders learn recorder. I'd like to teach my 4th and 5th grade students ukulele so that they will broaden their musical experiences. Also, students at my school start band in 4th grade. Learning how to play the ukulele and learning how to read music will add to their musical repertoire. Most of my students are from under-served communities and would never have the ability to own a ukulele on their own.
