Vince Lombardi once said, "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence." We are located in Rural Appalachia and approximately 60% of the students are on free/reduced lunches. My students face obstacles that they must overcome on a daily basis, and they are far from perfect. However, my students are excellent. Being excellent is not determined by anything other than each individuals personal best. My students give me their personal best day in and day out. They have accomplished things they never thought were possible. In my classroom, they treat each other with kindness and respect. They are compassionate young ladies and gentlemen. They deserve the best education that we can provide. However, our funds cannot support all of our students' needs.
