An inspirational reading rug will bring my whole class together. My third grade reading classes go from a teacher read aloud, to a mini-lesson to a reading workshop. When kids are comfortable reading they will enjoy it more and want to make it a lasting habit. My students do not have much at home and love having the flexibility to choose where to read in our classroom. It makes a teacher's heart happy to see reluctant readers find out just by changing position, such as lying on their stomachs, they actually enjoy their time reading to themselves and in partners. This inspirational rug with the words Read, Dream, Grow, and Learn would be the perfect addition to my gathering place.
