I work at a Title 1 school in Rhode Island, in which many of our students are living in poverty. Many also come from homes in which little to no English is spoken. Despite various disadvantages, everyday I see kids work hard to meet our high expectations. They have so many challenges in their personal lives, but set those things aside to focus on their education. By doing this, I know they will each be able to rise out of the cycle of poverty and find success.

About my class
