This project will allow my student journalists the opportunity to learn and grow in their work! Our high school has, in the past, had a very distinguished journalism program. Our goal is to bring this proud tradition back to HEHS, and provide a career path for students interested in journalism and photography. Armed with a quality camera and lenses, my students will capture better images for our yearbook and newspaper publications, and gain experience with up-to-date equipment. Currently, the journalism program has one older digital camera. In 1988, the HEHS student journalists won an award at the Junior Journalist Press Conference for Best Newswriting. My students would love the opportunity to compete at all levels, and new equipment will enable them to do so. This camera project can truly open many doors for my student journalists.
