I teach high school special needs students with varying disabilities (LD, ED, Autism, Visual impairments, Hearing impairments, Orthopedic impairments, etc). My students are taught in a self-contained class and will receive upon graduation an Employability Credential, rather than a regular high school diploma. My job is to prepare them for the working world; teaching them the skills needed to survive in the adult working world and helping them become successfully employed. These skills range from personal hygiene, household skills (using appliances, banking skills, money management), job related skills, to understanding their disability and advocating for their needs. These students are very special to me and many other people and I want to be able to provide them with as many supports / skills as I can to help them be successful in life.
