I want to give my students the warm, exciting learning environment they deserve, but I am starting from SCRATCH. I walked into an utterly bare classroom and now that I know my students, I know they are going to need loads of materials to meet their needs. Students with such profound autism require visuals, manipulatives, calming sensory items, lamination and other durable classroom tools to keep them engaged and challenged. I've included on my list games like the CVC WordBuilders and ZingoBingo to provide hands-on methods of learning words and numbers that will stimulate my students minds. And since they are easily over-stimulated, I've requested calming sensory items like the fidget toys and gravity blanket, as well as a soft place to land when they need a break like the bean bag chair on my list. Our supply room only has so much, and I have already bought things like a lamination machine and classroom printer out of my own pocket. Any help is wildly appreciated!
