Creating a culture of reading in my classroom is my top priority. Ensuring that my students had access to books they want to read and the time to read them is the foundation of my teaching practice. My students have read over 300 books this year, and if we miss a day of reading my students get VERY upset with me! My next step in creating a community of readers is providing students with comfy seating options. Some of my readers like to lounge during independent reading time, and the table and chairs in our classroom do not allow for this. I want my students to be able to sit on a rug or bean bag chair and lose themselves in their books. With your help, this is possible!
