Our students earn points throughout the day and can turn those points in for rewards, hence the request for treasure box items and colorful pens. We also need basics in our classroom like (good) pencils, erasers, a well-working pencil sharpener, and a stapler. Some of my students are in need of items to assist with focus and fidgeting. Having these items not only allows class time to be utilized more effectively (e.g., great pencils don't break as quickly, a good pencil sharpener prevents students from going across the hall to use another teacher's sharpener), but allows students, via "treasure box" items to feel rewarded for showing excellent citizenship.
