This year I have the opportunity to decorate my classroom in a way that will help students make more real-world connections. My school has chosen an "Adventure" theme for the entire school. My goal in my math class this year is to incorporate the 7 continents into our daily lessons and show them how important math is and how they can use it in any country! In my classroom, I will have students of different Latin American heritages and Native American heritages. Many of my students will have never interacted with those of different backgrounds and because of that, I want to create an environment of understanding and safety. I want all my students to know how important other people's cultures and beliefs are. My students will not only help each other succeed but also help each other overcome the language barriers.
