Writing is thinking. At our high school we are in a period of growth where we need to prepare more kiddos to perform at an accelerated level. These notebooks will give the students what they need to be successful writing daily. The journals will be used for an entire year and will be a great representation of their work as freshmen candidates. In addition to student growth, writing also helps me get to know my students because it gives them a platform to tell me anything. My students will be able to fill the pages of this composition notebook if they are given the opportunity with the activation of background knowledge and connections to texts. They will write about what they think, how they make connections to what they read, and how to connect their ideas to the world today.
