Welcome to Mrs. Dansby's classroom! We live in a rural town of approximately 751 people. We are a small school with very little funds available. Over 75% of our students are on free or reduced lunches and greatly affected by poverty with the median income being around $18K. Though most of my students come from families with limited income, and few chances for higher education, the people of our area know the value of hard work. Personal pride, pride in the community, and pride in the country run deep. I'm a 5th grade science/math teacher trying to incorporate more STEM learning in my classroom. I am in need of technology and lab equipment/furnishings to create our first elementary science lab. This lab equipment/furnishings will greatly enhance the students' learning experience in my classroom. I believe hands-on teaching is the most effective way to learn, but I need the resources to teach in this manner.
