The students in my class come from a high-poverty area, where parents and guardians are often working several jobs, and almost all of the students receive free or reduced price lunches. Despite their circumstances, however, the students are sweet, bright, and enthusiastic learners who know that their effort is more important than achieving the highest scores. My school is a community where students feel at "home" - teachers are supportive, and there is a large emphasis on perseverence and interacting together respectfully, inside and outside the classroom. Students are excited to come to school every day, as they know that they are valued and integral members of their classrooms and campus.
