My students are from the Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco, California. About 70% of the students in my class are English Language Learners. My students are very diverse, there are 5 different languages that are spoken at home. My class consists of 22 1st graders who are eager to learn. Most if not all of my students qualify for free lunch. I want to provide my students and future students with the materials they need so they can have a successful school year. I want all of my students to be making progress towards mastery of grade level standards. To achieve this goal I need additional materials that my school cannot provide. 1st grade is a pivotal year and I want to provide my students with a solid foundation and skills so they can be lifelong learners.
