I am the Trust Counselor at a middle school in south Florida where I serve students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. We currently have 89% of our students on free or reduced lunch. My daily duties include individual, group and family counseling. My efforts are prevention driven in the areas of drugs, violence, mental health, self-esteem, acceptance, and tolerance. I am also the club sponsor for two clubs: DFYIT (Drug-Free Youth In Town)-Peer Counselors and Castaway Club. Both clubs focus on community service and educating their peers. While Castaway Club is an outdoor fishing and camping club we are definitely active in the community by doing beach clean-ups and drives to help our local Marine-life. I post projects on Donors Choose that will assist my students in everything that will make them more involved in their school life and productive citizens in our society.
