You Can’t Learn If You’re Anxious, Stressed, or Scared. Students need to feel safe in the classroom. The world right now doesn’t feel safe to children. I need to make them feel safe and secure so they can focus and learn. To do this my classroom will require some changes. The materials and resources that I’m requesting for my students are needed for a successful and safe learning environment. The Sit Spots will give each student a location where they can sit and learn, socially distant from their peers. The vinyl will individualize the student's material so each student can safely use their iPad and other resources knowing that they have been clean and sanitized. It is important to keep the air fresh in my classroom, locating fans near the window will allow each student with fresh air. Another, having a microwave and mini-fridge in the classroom will enable both students and teacher to eat safely in the classroom. (The fridge and microwave will also be used for exploration in science. For example, how does heat and cold affect the germination of a seed.) A safe environment with a bit of variety will increase learning. All of the requested material will enable students to focus on their learning. Each student will have their own spot to sit, with a clean iPad breathing fresh air. Learning can not happen when students are scared. Please help my students feel safe and secure in this new world we are living in.
