My students are kindergartners, first graders and second graders. Each of my students have unique personalities and very specific preferences. My school has a culturally diverse population, so my classroom is a language-rich environment: Print, pictures and symbols deck our walls. Two of my students are also partially blind, so I have high-contrast visual aides to support them. My students love technology- our awesome principal is letting us use the school's only smartboard (to enlarge and enhance lessons), my students love practicing phonics and phonemic awareness with Starfall during our weekly time in the computer lab, and we practice speech skills with fun apps on our iPad! Not only are my students learning academic content, but they are also learning how to operate technology too! Our school has fully embraced us. Kiddos from other classrooms read to my students and play with them at recess. Despite the cumbersome logistics of our wheelchairs and walkers, we fit right in.
