Nothing says "I don't remember anything from my high school French class" like a list of vocabulary words. To make French culture come alive, students physically participate in our lessons. As we near our food unit, students prepare to interact with each other as if they were in a French-speaking country. The class will be set up like a typical outdoor French market (Les Halles), with separate stalls for each food group, including la fromagerie, la boulangerie, la boucherie, and so much more. In this immersive setting, students will be prompted to take a personal interest in the role they play as le client or le marchand. The direct interactions between students and the objects at hand allow them a greater chance at retaining and applying the language in the long haul.
