Many of the students I work with are from low-socio economic homes, where their parents' main objective is to provide the bare necessities: food and shelter. With that being said, most of the students are left alone after school wondering about what they are going to eat. This club, Cooking with the Teacher will provide an opportunity for the students to learn how to prepare nutritionist meals and provide a way to keep them out of mischief after-school. The cooking supplies that we will use in this club will include: Pots and pans, knives, spatulas, thermometers, and griddle. Club participants will learn how to cook healthy options and will be able to take the food home to feed their families and themselves. Another benefit of this club is; the creative outlet cooking provides. Cooking With the Teacher provides a chance for the students to incorporate math, science, reading, and writing into nutrition. Let's get cooking!
