Robo Coding!
Funded Nov 20, 2017Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in my classroom. The students are using the Ozobots to learn coding using colors. They are fascinated by how easily they can control the robots actions just by changing color patterns. We downloaded the Ozoblockly app to my iPad and now they can drag different directions then upload to the robot. They are having so much fun and do not realize that they are learning to code.
I am moved by such generosity and the impact on my students. They can't believe that someone who does not know us has sent us these wonderful gifts. We talk about helping others and that they can do it to, maybe not with money donations but by helping others in different ways. You have inspired my class in many ways and expect a few might explore engineering and science in a future career. Thank you again.”

Mrs. L.

Funded Sep 5, 2017Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in my classroom. The students are using the iPad mini to create stop action animations about science concepts like how a cloud forms. When students finish classwork early, they ask to use the mini iPad to study using online apps that allow me to upload our vocabulary into games which makes learning fun. During lessons on heat transfer, they are able to use a thermal camera app to discover hot spots in our room.

Funded Aug 17, 2017Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in My classroom. My students were excited to receive the molecule kits and digital scales. They used them during our chemistry unit to better understand how molecules form. The kits provided great visuals for understanding conservation of matter where the number of atoms at the start equals the number at the end. We used the scales to mass before and after our experiments to determine if mass was gained or lost.
My students were thrilled to see how generous strangers can be when they see excitement and passion for interesting projects. I always tell them that dreams can come true if they put some effort into reaching them. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!”

Funded Aug 21, 2017Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in my classroom. The students are using the Asus Chromebook to learn about science concepts like how a cloud forms. The headset helps to reduce sound in the classroom since different stations are doing different work. The wireless mouse makes navigation easier.
When students finish classwork early, they ask to use the Chromebook to study using online apps that allow me to upload our vocabulary into games which makes learning fun. Our class embraces the use of Google classrooms and this tool enables the students to easily access their assignments and complete them in a timely manner. They are using webcams with a stop action animation app to animate science concepts like heat transfer or cloud formation. True understanding comes when they create a video of their notes.

Funded May 24, 2017Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement with my Lego teams. They are so excited to be able go to a competition. They worked extra hard on building their robot and planning strategies to achieve as many missions as possible. The team created a research project related to the human water cycle and usage in our world. The team's project addressed making pee be repurposed as clean drinkable water or to run something Regardless of the outcome at the meet, my students learned more about their world and environmental impact. They have seen that new ideas can help improve our world.

This classroom project was brought to life by Tom's of Maine and 2 other donors.Solar Power Cars
Funded Jul 10, 2017Your generous donation has created a whirlwind of activity and excitement in our school. Our students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade were excited to receive the solar car kits and solar panels. They explored how to build the kits and how solar panels worked to supply energy to the car. They used the solder to connect wires to motors and used the batteries for trial and error testing. Once the car was built, they attached the solar panel and were amazed at how much faster the cars ran compared to the battery power. Our school district has 2 middle schools and we sent out a challenge. Our Town's energy committee sponsors a race meet for us. In all we fielded 27 teams at the solar car race, unfortunately it was a cloudy day and all teams swapped back to the battery packs. They are already planning next year's car designs and hoping for a sunny day.
Your donation has made a huge impact on them, not only have you provided a way to understand solar power as an energy source but they can see how generous strangers can be when they see excitement and passion for interesting projects. I always tell them that dreams can come true if they put some effort into reaching them. Today they conquer how to get free power from the sun, tomorrow they hopefully will drive and live in a solar powered world!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!”
