The inspiration of bringing an aquarium into the classroom is born of the need to unplug modern children from the digital world for a moment and allow them to reengage with the sensual world of life and nature. The chaotic, often unsafe urban environment will face a strong counterpoint when students take breaks to gaze into this tranquil underwater world. The 55 Gallon Size (speaking from direct experience here) necessarily will allow the student caregivers of the aquarium see its inhabitants (dime store feeder goldfish) thrive and grow from frisky little specs of life into large, elegant denizens of their domain.
