At home and in school, my students and I will utilize these tools and resources to make our First Year a success. As a first-year teacher, this project will allow me to reach and teach all of my students for this year, just as it will help to build my toolbox for years to come. I believe—like teaching and art—learning is a continued practice that requires patience, diligence, flexibility, and creativity. I teach from my authentic self with radical love and honesty and through humility in my own continued learning which I work to keep culturally-responsive, anti-racist, trauma-informed, inclusive, evolving, and interdisciplinary. I intend to keep my practice student-centered and reflection-driven, so these are the skills, mindsets, and understandings I hope to teach my students as well as learn from and with them. The supplies on my list will help me do just that. These items are not inclusive of all our needs and want toward those goals, but they will be invaluable in helping us learn more about ourselves, our communities, and our world.
