My students come from a variety of backgrounds and abilities that makes it a necessity to differentiate my classroom teaching. Many come from challenging home situations and language barriers that set the stage for little to no academic growth. Most struggle to meet grade level standards and few are performing above grade level and need to be challenged to continue their love of learning. My students are loving, motivated learners that are working towards becoming independent thinkers. Our school is staffed with highly qualified teachers who work extended hours to ensure our students continue to grow into intelligent, responsible, and respectful people. We have continuously increased our scores and API each year, which has gotten us out of being a Program Improvement school. Our largest struggle comes from being in a low income, high risk neighborhood that has been hit with HUGE budget cuts in the recent years.
