As a first-year Kindergarten teacher during the COVID-19 Pandemic, manipulatives are almost obsolete because our curriculum simply does not provide enough materials for each student. I use a very hands-on learning approach in my classroom, especially for difficult and abstract concepts. Obtaining these supplies would mean that each student would have their own set of manipulatives which would eliminate the risk of spreading germs and enrich the learning experience with concrete materials. Students, in general, are already at a disadvantage this school year due to all of the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 and the strict regulations we must abide by in the classroom. I believe that having access to manipulatives will bring a sense of normalcy back to the classroom environment while making learning fun and tangible. My students and I humbly thank you in advance for your generosity!
