“Every child should be able to find themselves in a library.” That’s what I was taught when I became a librarian. The school where I teach is one of the most diverse schools in the state of Alaska. Unfortunately, the book collection is not as diverse as our population and not very current!! One of my goals is to update our Social Studies & Science collections. Many of our well-loved books need to be replaced! My other goal is to continue their love of reading and learning by replacing these worn books. Several of our popular series books have been read so many times that it's showing the wear and tear. Not only will these books update our collection, but they'll increase student reading at the same time! Our students come from all over the world and our books should be representative of that. Please help our students see themselves in our library.
