Short version:
I need a document camera to make videos for my students. I have made hours and hours worth with an old one. These videos allow me to give each student individual attention they need to thrive in math. My old document camera finally quit on me and I need a replacement in order to give my students the help they need.
Long version:
I teach math. I have 7th and 8th grade classes. My students are wonderful but their range of skills is extremely wide. Some are years behind whereas some are already years ahead. We have a program that supplements their grade level curriculum with material that is appropriate for their skill level (be that above, below, or at grade level). When the learning material that comes with that software isn't enough for a student they will ask me for help. The best way for me to help is to log in to the software and look at the exact material they need help with and then send them a video that explains what they need to know.
I connect the camera to my computer and split my screen. I then record my screen and my voice as I show them the exact problem or types of problems they are working on and they can see how I write the math out next to it. The document camera I currently have has died on me. It's over 10 years old (which is ancient in technology years) and will no longer keep a stable connection to my computer or a clear picture.
I want to help students who reach out for it. This camera will help me do that. Please help me as I try to help students or are working to help themselves.
