I believe that classrooms should be student-centered and engaging. Flexible seating is one way that I bring the power of student choice into my classroom. When students have various seating choices and arrangements in a welcoming environment, they are successful. I encourage collaboration and student choice in my classroom. I have a few different seating options in my classroom and they love having the choice to move around the room and sit in various spots during the day. However, students have been asking for more options such as Wobble Chairs, a lounger, under the desk cycle, and a standing desk to work and move. I have seen an increase in student engagement and motivation. I also have noticed that sixth graders like the choice in seating arrangements throughout their day.
