My students hail from a neighborhood that is by no means unscathed by the grips of poverty. Many of my young musicians live in hardship but are very dedicated to making the most of their education. This includes their music education. Each of my students is eager to learn. Our children are offered a rich music curriculum, but, as a result of tough financial times are not provided with enough materials to truly dive into the higher order thinking behind making music. Each of the students in my school bring unique experiences and elements to our learning community in the music room. They celebrate each other for who they are as individuals.
