There are many benefits to having a listening center in the classroom. To begin, students who struggle with vocabulary can benefit from a listening center and headphones. The more the students listen to an audio book, the greater the chance that they will learn new vocabulary. Also, students show an increase in fluency, automaticity and expression. When students are exposed to fluency, automaticity and expression they have a better understanding of the text. Finally, listening skills are important for the development of children. Listening skills are an important part of communication skills. It is critical to teach students this important skill so that they can become excellent readers, listeners and speakers! Please help me provide my students with this opportunity to acquire a listening center and headphones for our classroom.
