Increasing literacy skills is of the highest priority for me with my students. We live in a society where reading teachers are constantly competing with the cell-phones of students. I understand why. Social media sites like Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram give students instant gratification. The subscription of Scope Magazine will give my students the ability to have instant access to high-engagement articles. With these articles, students will analyze author's craft weekly through purposeful talk and demonstrate learning through critical writing skills. Students will debate, analyze, write, read, infer, examine, and defend their opinions while still being able to create their own viewpoints and perspectives.
