My students attend one of the two lowest-performing high schools in Connecticut. Less than 50% of freshman will graduate with their class, and the science scores are staggeringly low despite being located less than a mile from Yale University. Over 90% of my students are from minority background and the overwhelming majority qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many do not have a solid science background and most of them don't understand how science is relevant to their future.
