An important part of learning is being in the right state of mind, feeling comfortable to take risks and feeling a sense of safety. This project will help put light covers over the bright fluorescent lights in our room and a string of lights around the room. Helping the kids by covering and dimming that bright obnoxious light that many of them complain about and giving them the option to read and work with the lights off with the strings of lights on. These covers and string of lights create a sense of calmness in the room; which can in turn make kids feel more at home, promoting feeling safe and a nurturing environment. This will set the right mood to help my students learn in a classroom that feels more like home than like school.
