I am a first year teacher. I have some supplies stocked up from my own personal school supply shopping over the years, but sadly, I cannot afford to purchase everything I need to meet my classroom goals. I want my students to feel a sense of comfort and community within my classroom. I held a long-term substitute position in this school for three months at the end of last school year, and I have seen the challenges that these students face. My students need to know that their teacher cares about them in order for them to feel motivated toward their educational goals, this is why I am attempting to implement flexible seating. I also know that my students are not kids that can sit still and learn in "traditional" note-taking methods. They need hands on ways to really learn. I realize that I am asking for a lot, and I do not expect that my project will be fully funded because of that,I am simply hoping that I can receive even just a little bit of assistance in founding my very first classroom so that my students can reap the benefits.
