My school has a population of 2300 students and is about 70% Hispanic with a large portion being English learners. The school is located in an area that is on the low end of the social-economic spectrum and the majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. The students are great and have inquiring minds, but their exposure to real world experiences is limited due to the high rate of poverty. This is a public school in California. The students in my anatomy class are part of our Medical Academy. These students are preparing to apply for medical and nursing programs after high school.
