My student attend a school for the blind in Arizona. They range in age from 6-10 and all are legally blind. Many of my students come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and have limited access to specialized equipment for academic learning and sensory needs. Because they can not see they have a need for sensory input through movement such as jumping, spinning and bouncing. My students also depend on verbal cues and voice devices to learn. Today's technology has so much to offer them in all aspects of their lives. Unfortunately, because of a lack of school funding, these students only have access to some specialized equipment during specific periods of their day. Having equipment readily available to them in their classroom would help them develop their skills at a faster pace.
