This project will provide materials to support the varying range of developmental stages of writers I have in my classroom. To begin, I have requested an inexpensive cd player and headphone splitter so that the students will be able to hear different texts on cd or ipads and then write about what they have heard, using both creative and informational texts. For my students who are at the very beginning stages of writing, the adaptive materials I requested will support them and allow them to find success as they develop at their own pace. Those students that have under-developed hand strength will now have the opportunity to build their writing stamina with this extra support! As students have opportunities to choose the best position for them to write, those that choose the floor will have boundaries and a soft place to write with the floor cushions. Slant boards provide support for those who may struggle with visual perception issues. The putty and gumball game allow students to gain hand strength in order to be successful with common writing utensils like pencils, crayons and markers. All the materials I requested will support my curious, creative, hard working writers and allow me to better meet their individual needs! Thank you so much for considering my project!
