My students are hands-on learners, excited and motivated to ask questions and explore the world. My progressive, inner-city school values giving students choice in their learning so they can take ownership. We foster critical thinking and asking questions so students will be life-long learners and democratic citizens. My 2nd and 3rd grade students represent a range of reading levels; thus I need a variety of texts to provide entry points for each child's learning. My students learn in an interdisciplinary manner - they will read, write, and create projects in order to learn science and social studies facts.
