My students are eager learners with inquisitive minds and caring hearts. They are learning about the world around them and how humans have made changes both wonderful and detrimental. These students have made many friendships that, in turn, support our classroom community's ideas and feelings. This bright class is part of a school where 952 students are bused in or live in a suburb of Los Angeles. Our diverse school has a predominately Hispanic population with Asians, White, and African-American students. We are a Title I school, providing free or reduced lunches. Unfortunately, our school wasn't one of the 47 chosen in our district to receive free iPads for each student. Since we only have 40 minutes per week in the Computer Lab, there is not enough time for the research needed to meet our Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. My students are highly motivated but lack the resources to be competitive in high achieving high schools and colleges.
