I would like to include more flexible seating to accommodate the many different learning styles I have in my classroom. Research shows that different seating options for students has benefits such as increased collaboration, reduced sitting times, better focus and engagement, and enables new teaching strategies. I would like to give my students more choices to be comfortable during their day in the classroom. Balance balls would let active students move in their seats, stools could be used at a low table and moved around easily. A lap desk would allow kids to sit on the floor and write or use their Chromebook. Every day we start with a morning meeting and yoga. I also would love a large carpet to place over dangerous electrical cords that run right through the area where kids come to the carpet for our meetings, yoga, and for direct instruction. A clean carpet would brighten up our learning space!
