The typical layout and look of the classroom has not changed much over the past century. Anyone can walk into a classroom and see the typical line-up of desks in rows. Teachers have begun to question this idea within their rooms and attempted to steer away from the usual by creating a classroom environment where students can not only choose where they sit but have a more comfortable area to focus. This being a new school and classroom for me, I am looking to start my room off in a positive direction for my students and create 21st century learning within our room. I have seen and experienced the magic that flexible seating brings to a classroom, as students feel empowered and I am beyond excited to dive into this experience with them.
I want nothing more than to give my students the best education, where they feel comfortable, engaged with collaborative learning, creating a positive classroom environment.
Therefore, the flexible seating options I have chosen are stability discs, bean bag chairs, portable lap desks, as well as clipboards to help them work around the room. Flexible seating will allow the students to have movement around the room while they learn to continuously engage throughout the day! Each of my students will have the ability to have a hand in their learning and I hope that you can help me achieve that goal! Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
