My students are a very diverse group, ethnically, socio-economically, religiously, and so on. But what they have in common is a very poor understanding of math concepts, due mainly to our state's emphasis on standardized testing. Our school (a traditional public high school) does have some computer resources, but the labs must be shared, and it's often hard to get access when you need it. I have no computers (or even graphing calculators) in my classroom for students to use. My students really strive to do well, and they want to learn. I would love to be able to provide them access to the technology that will make them exponentially more successful.
