The school library at the Delaware School for the Deaf is a very active place! We are a school that serves Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind students from 18mos-21years and we have all grades (PreK-12). As the school library/media specialist and literacy specialist, I am constantly trying to keep our library collection updated, relevant, and engaging for my students. Fostering lifelong readers is my goal. Reading opens the door to a wide, wide world. Literacy is the key to many successes. Nothing is more important than making sure our Deaf bilingual students are literate and successful and live happy, fulfilled lives full of purpose and meaning. In the 21st century, multiple literacies are required, so the school library is not only about books and print, but also about digital literacies, evaluating information and its sources, and being critical and creative thinkers. I strive to provide it all!
