My wonderful ELL students are the most eager learners I have ever known! They want so much to expand their knowledge and are always excited to show what they know. What are my students like? They speak 14 different languages and range in age from Kindergarten to 5th grade. They are brave, smart, caring, confused, happy, and sometimes scared. The children constantly translate between two languages in their heads all day. Imagine! I think they are amazing. I teach 60 children between my two schools. They are all learning more about reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English. Both high-poverty schools are in old buildings. Our goals and dreams are high! I talk with my students about the importance of learning and how they can graduate and go to college or technical school. They will need to learn to utilize technology and I want their experiences in my ELL class to help them realize dreams!
