Because of you, our students now have access to exciting hands-on materials like cotton balls, Q-tips, foam sheets, pom-poms, and pipe cleaners. These simple supplies have already made a BIG impact in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are using these materials during our weekly makerspace STEM challenges. Recently, students worked in teams to design and build marble roller coasters using pipe cleaners and Q-tips as tracks and supports. They experimented with height, slopes, and stability to make sure their marble could travel from start to finish. Watching them adjust their designs, solve problems, and cheer each other on was such a powerful classroom moment. One group realized their structure kept collapsing, so they used foam sheets to reinforce the base—after testing three different versions! Their persistence was inspiring.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, their eyes lit up. There were audible gasps and so many creative ideas being shared at once! Some students immediately began sketching inventions in their notebooks, while others carefully explored the textures and shapes, already imagining how they could combine them. The excitement was contagious.\r\n\r\nBeyond STEM challenges, we are also using these materials to support literacy and science lessons. Students recently created 3D animal habitat models using cotton balls for snow, green foam sheets for grasslands, and pom-poms to represent animals. This hands-on approach deepened their understanding far beyond what a worksheet could accomplish.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current lessons and projects, students will keep applying problem-solving skills, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking using these materials. Each new challenge builds their confidence and encourages them to take risks, test ideas, and learn from mistakes. The makerspace supplies you provided will continue to support meaningful, hands-on learning experiences throughout the year.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom is filled with creativity, collaboration, and joyful learning. You didn't just provide supplies—you provided opportunities for innovation, discovery, and growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and believing in their potential. Using recycled cardboard and the new tools, they are safely cutting, connecting, testing, and redesigning their ideas. One group's structure kept collapsing, but instead of giving up, they reinforced it and proudly said, \"Engineers redesign!\" That moment perfectly captured the growth mindset we strive for.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless — wide eyes, huge smiles, and immediate brainstorming.
