Students will learn the basics of playing the Ukulele. By the end of the unit, students will know several chords to accompany themselves while singing a song. It is my hope that students will go out and purchase their own ukulele and continue to learn at home. It is a relatively inexpensive instrument and very portable, making it a great instrument to learn in school. It is also highly engaging and will help students learn about harmony and have fun. In addition, I plan to start a performance group to perform at school events throughout the year.
