My students come into my classroom in myriad fashion. Some come from the comforts of home; others are more seasoned students coming from early education programs. Either way, my objective is to ensure that every child is well prepared for kindergarten. Atypical of most VPK classrooms, all of my students participate in the extended day program and remain beyond the mandatory half day program. This allows for a more leveled playing field as the extended day provides for greater educational and learning opportunities. Preparing my students come with laughter, creativity, light bulb moments, and a lot of "bang ups and hang ups." In the end, every moment of preparation is worth it because I can't wait to see all the places they'll go.
