Gathering together to learn in a common area allows students to foster and strengthen the bonds of our classroom learning community. A rug also provides a comfortable area for students to gather for whole group learning experiences, in small groups, or to stretch out during individual learning time. Right now we gather on a tiny rug where the first row has to keep feet and legs off the rug, and everyone needs to sit close together so we can all fit! Despite our best efforts, they are always saying, “There is no room for me”! This rug will not only benefit my current students, but also future classes to come.
